Why I’d like to be Swedish
I’d like to be a Swedish mum, and this is based upon one shallow reason. So shallow it’s almost hard to write, without cringing.
Whilst I understand that Sweden and her Scandinavian neighbours provide amazingly forward-thinking social and welfare services, and lead the way in matters feminist and pro-family, I am not able to concentrate on such matters right now! As I say, I’m feeling a bit shallow.
And this is because I recently ordered some kiddie’s clothes from the Swedish shop Lindex. I am so pleased. I’ve always admired the Scandi kids brands, but they’re as bit pricey, so I end up cherry-picking from H&M, and shopping in the Polarn O. Pyret sale.
But if I were Swedish, I could pop into Lindex any time I wanted. And my children could be this cool all the time!
End of shallow shopping talk!
