Here Comes the Bride(smaids)
I’m nearly too excited to type.
My cousin, who shall be named Auntie S, came for lunch today, along with my own big sister, Aunty C. Firstly, check out the mega bunch of lilies she bought me, how hugely gorgeous are they! Also, very pleased with a new self-reinvented (mostly plagiarised – but dumbed down – from a fab mum at school) recipe of caramelised onion and goats cheese tart, to go with our salad from the garden. Yumsters.
Anyway, the exciting bit is that Auntie S has asked Big and Little Sis to be her bridesmaids at her wedding next Easter. Ooooooooooooh!
Big Sis was simply filled with glee, and she literally punched the air with pure delight. She is enthralled by the talk of pretty dresses, pretty shoes, flowers to hold and petals to throw: “I will be proud to walk down the aisle,” she declared. She practised special bridesmaid-walking-technique with Aunty C. Very sweet.
Then we have Little Sis, who was also terribly pleased, but I’m not sure she knew exactly what she should be pleased about. I don’t know if she has any knowledge of what a bridesmaid is! You will wear a beautiful dress, look pretty and be a very special part of Auntie S’s wedding, we explained. Later on the phone to Grandma Tea, Little Sis explained: “I am going to be a bridesmaid and throw petals at you, Grandma. I will wear a special dress and smile”. Maybe she has got it after all!
I cried, obviously. Very emotional about my cuz marrying her true love. Doubly emotionally about my daughters being her bridesmaids. So very happy.
So here’s to you, Auntie S and (soon to be “uncle”) G. Happy days. Happy, happy, happy! Xxx

Thanks again and by the way, the tart was amazing!
My little bridesmaids will be the best
Awwww that is such lovely news! Congratulations Big and Little Sis! Nothing is more exciting than the gorgeous pretty dresses and being such an important part of the day! Our daughter was our bridesmaid last year and she felt so so important! She loved the whole thing! Xx
We feel top of the world! X
Lovely. I can remember being a flower girl for my auntie’s wedding and then later on my dads wedding when he remarried. I felt like a princess with my beautiful gown and special hair do. When I got married my 2 nieces were flower girls along with my daughter who was about 3. My nieces delicately threw out the rose petals as they walked up the aisle and my daughter gave everyone a few chuckles as she thought that it was a mistake and tried to pick up the petals and put them into her basket. I love having that funny adorable memory of the day.
